Hello! My name is Shana Yadid. I am the Founder, CEO & Lead Trainer at Yadid’it! Dog Training, the Executive Director at Yadid'it! Sustainable Dog Rescue and an ABCDT certified dog trainer. I have always had a special bond with animals, especially the misunderstood. Using my unique bond with dogs, I have trained over 500 dogs and their owners over the course of my six year dog-training career. I have also rescued six of my own dogs, and helped to get countless foster dogs adopted.
The most pivotal moment in my life began shortly after my 21stbirthday when I started reading Temple Grandin’s "Animals in Translation, Using the Mysteries of Autism to Decode Animal Behavior." It was then that my understanding of my relationship with animals began to unfold. I identified therapeutic benefits between rescue animals and human survivors of sexual traumas. I was eager to see if all the clarity I felt flipping through the pages of her book was more than just an idea. So naturally, it began. Within two weeks, I enrolled in the Dog Obedience Trainer Program through Animal Behavior College in 2012. In 2015, I got my first job at Petco where I was quickly promoted to mentor dog trainer and mentored three trainers within the first year and a half. I volunteered at Happy Tails Rescue Inc. (Munster, IN), C.A.R.E.-Community Animal Rescue Effort (Evanston, IL), PAWS (Chicago, IL), Anti-Cruelty Society (Chicago, IL), and Hope Animal Rescue (Durham, NC). In 2018, I launched Yadid’it dog training. Fast forward to today, 2019, I’m launching my campaign for my very own non-profit organization. To some, it’s a whirlwind of events. To me, it’s a passionate pursuit in a career that was meant for me.
Over the years, I have developed a unique training program that incorporates the whole family, children included, and my personal experiences. I’ve integrated energy healing to cultivate the mind and spirit as a Reiki level-1 certified healer because I’ve seen firsthand it’s successful rehabilitation of undesired reactivity and impulse control both in dogs and owners. I have also seen how the lack of training in the rescue-dog adoption process leads to a high adoption return-rate. This was, in large part, the motivation that led me to start our sister non-profit organization, Yadid'it! Sustainable Dog Rescue.
Utilizing my tried and true methodology of result-based balanced-training I set off on my own to help dogs and their owners better communicate with one another. Recently, I’ve developed a partnership between my Dog Training/Sustainable Dog Rescue and Partners for Youth Opportunities (PYO) to mentor and empower young women who struggle with confidence and social anxiety. I am diligently working towards my Certified Professional Dog Trainer- Knowledge Assessed (CPDT-KA) certification.
